[Audemars Piguet started by two genius watchmakers] Since its founding in 1875, Audemars Piguet is a prestigious watch brand that has been continuously family-owned for 140 years. Jules-Louis Audemars, who grew up in a family of watchmakers, and Edouard-Auguste Piguet, a childhood friend who excelled in technical and sales skills, are known as genius engineers who specialize in complex mechanisms such as chronographs and minute repeaters. It all started when people worked together to make watches. A part of the name of two people is taken and made into a brand name. Along with Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin, it is known as one of the three major watch brands in the world. Audemars Piguet

2024/08/23update

Audemars Piguet is a brand that combines the weight of history with innovation, and its attitude of constantly evolving and moving forward has made it one of the world's top three luxury watches. It is the creator of the now commonplace stainless steel watch, and in 1972 it launched the Royal Oak, its original and highest model. It is also the spark that started the luxury sports, or ragspo, watch boom that continues to take the world by storm. The beginning of innovation dates back to 1875. The brand was founded by Jules-Louis Audemars and Edouard-Auguste Piguet, and took their respective names to become independent as Audemars Piguet. Audemars developed movements. Piguet focused on sales, which spread its name around the world, and its history of developing the world's first minute repeater elevated it to one of the prestigious maisons. In a world where luxury fashion houses generally acquire or merge with larger corporations, Audemars Piguet is a rare and valuable brand that has remained family-run since its founding. Despite a lack of capital and unstable times, Audemars Piguet has been able to survive uninterrupted for nearly 150 years, and its ability to do so has allowed it to enjoy the brilliance of a top-class fashion house.

  • Audemars Piguet Features

Audemars Piguet is one of the three biggest watches in the world, and is also known as the "top watch". In 1972, at a time when thin and small gold and platinum watches were the norm, the 39mm stainless steel Royal Oak was born, and it became the forerunner of the "big and thick" watch boom that is now mainstream with Panerai and Hublot. Not only was it big, but it was also recognized for its high functionality as a sports watch, capturing the hearts of watch fans.
The Royal Oak was designed by Gerald Genta, a watch designer who has worked on many famous watches, and is based on the porthole of the British Royal Ship Royal Oak. The octagonal bezel and case are secured to the back cover with a hexagonal screw, and the dial features a delicate guilloche tapestry lattice.
While remaining a family-run manufacturer that values its history as one of Switzerland's leading manufacturers, the company is also known for its groundbreaking watchmaking, and has a brand concept of "harmony between tradition and innovation." Each watch is handcrafted by many artisans, with an annual production of approximately 40,000 watches, and a rich collection of 42 different movements.

  • Audemars Piguet's popular models

The world's first stainless steel luxury sports watch, the Royal Oak, is probably the most representative model of Audemars Piguet. The many series, including the Extra Thin, Offshore, Jumbo, and Dual Time, are also attracting attention.
In 1993, the sportier and more powerful Royal Oak Offshore was born. As the name Offshore means "offshore", it boasts 100 meters of water resistance, and its large case and bold color scheme earned it the nickname "Beast". The first Offshore was designed by Emmanuel Guilloet, a 22-year-old employee of Audemars Piguet at the time, who would later go on to design for Cellini and Harry Winston. However, when it was first announced at Baselworld, there were overwhelmingly many critical voices within the company, who thought that the stainless steel chronograph would not sell because it was too large, and Gerald Genta, who designed the original Royal Oak, was said to have been furious that the watch he had designed had been ruined.
