Quartz and mechanical watches

Watches can be broadly divided into mechanical watches that run on a mainspring and quartz watches that run on batteries. As the name implies, a mechanical watch is a watch whose interior is entirely assembled with machines. It is an expensive but precise watch that enjoys delicate mechanical beauty. Quartz type is light in weight, excellent in durability, inexpensive because it can be mass-produced, and is popular among many people because of its high accuracy.

Power <br> The power of a quartz wristwatch is a battery, whereas the power of a mechanical wristwatch (self-winding wristwatch and hand-wound wristwatch) is the power that the spring can unwind.

In the case of a quartz wristwatch, the battery is used for a monitor for about half a year to one year at the time of purchase, and after replacement it will run out in about two to three years depending on the type of battery, but in the case of a mechanical wristwatch, When the mainspring is fully wound, a typical model will run for about 35 to 45 hours. (Depending on the manufacturer and model.) If you wind up the mainspring before stopping, it will continue to move without stopping.
In the case of a self-winding wristwatch, moving the arm rotates the built-in rotor and winds up the mainspring. If the amount of movement of the arm is small and the winding is insufficient, it may stop or the accuracy may be disrupted, so it is recommended that you wear it on your arm for at least 8 to 10 hours a day. Or we recommend turning the crown once a day at the same time and the same number of times.
POINT

To wind the mainspring manually, slowly turn the crown clockwise (12 o'clock). When using from a stopped state, in the case of a self-winding watch, manually turn the crown about 30 to 40 times to wind up the mainspring, and then attach it to your arm. In the case of hand-wound watches, slowly wind the mainspring until it stops.

ATTENTION

In the case of a hand-wound wristwatch, be careful not to exceed the end of the winding.

Crown <br> The knob for winding the mainspring and setting the time and calendar is called the crown. There are two types of crowns: simply pull out and screw-in type.
With the drawer type, you can turn the crown at the same position to wind up the mainspring. For the screw-in type, release the screwed crown, then turn the crown to wind it up.
To release, turn slowly counterclockwise (6 o'clock).
To restore, press down slowly and clockwise (12 o'clock) until it stops. If you feel uncomfortable, loosen the crown and do it again without forcibly screwing it.
ATTENTION

If you screw it in at an angle, the screw thread will be crushed, and it will not be tightened properly, which will cause a loss of waterproof performance.
Be sure to return to the original state after completing operations such as setting the time and calendar. There is a case where the part called the winding core is broken and the crown can be removed. In addition, when the crown is open, the waterproof performance is not exhibited, and it is not waterproof.

Accuracy (advance / delay)
Quartz wristwatches move forward or backward by a few seconds to tens of seconds a day, while mechanical watches have a daily difference of several months. Even mechanical wristwatches equipped with a chronometer have a daily difference of less than -4 seconds to plus 6 seconds.
Accuracy also depends on the orientation of the watch when it is worn. This is because gravity and friction between parts affect the operation of the watch. Accuracy also varies with temperature. This is because the metal expands and contracts with changes in temperature. (If it's hot, it's late, if it's cold, it's going)
* Please contact us as soon as possible due to various causes for extreme disturbances in accuracy.

Magnetism <br> Under the influence of magnetism, the clock can be delayed or advanced, and sometimes stopped, causing time skew. Once a mechanical wrist watch is affected by magnetism, it will always affect accuracy. In order to be demagnetized, you must send it for repair. At least 5 to 10 cm away from products that generate magnetism, it is almost unaffected.

Waterproof <br> Waterproof watch protects the function of the watch by preventing packing of moisture and dust from the outside by packing used on the back cover, crown and glass. If this packing deteriorates, the waterproof function will be impaired, so periodic replacement is required.

Please note the following points even with a waterproof watch.

  1. Do not operate the crown or chronograph buttons while underwater or wet. Water will penetrate inside.
  2. Do not leave with seawater. Be sure to rinse the seawater with fresh water and dry it thoroughly. It may cause rust.
  3. Do not use in hot springs. Hot spring ingredients accelerate the damage of metal parts and deterioration of packing.
  4. Please refrain from using in baths and saunas, hot water, soap and shampoo. It will accelerate the deterioration of the packing.
◎ Due to the temperature difference between the outside air and the watch, the moisture originally inside the watch may dew. Temporary clouding does not cause any problems with the clock function.
* If you think the watch has been flooded, please send it in for repair immediately.

Non-waterproof No waterproof treatment is applied. Keep away from water.
Daily life waterproof
[3 ATM water resistant]
Waterproof depth: 3atm 3bar 100ft (30m)
Waterproof enough to splash water as expected in everyday life. There is no problem if you are slightly wet with face washing and rain.
Waterproof to enhance daily life
[5 to 20 ATM water resistant]
Water depth: 5atm 5bar 165ft (50m)-20atm 20bar 660ft (200m)
Waterproof enough to withstand water work-waterproof enough to withstand swimming and swimming.
Water resistant for diving and saturated diving
[Water resistant to more than 20 atmospheres]
Water depth: 20atm 20bar 660ft (200m) or more. You can dive in earnest with a watch called "Divers Watch" by each model.
* A regular waterproof test is required to maintain the waterproof performance.

Shock <br> Mechanical watches with a complex structure made by meshing many gears are precise, delicate, and have parts that are fragile to shock.
"Drop" and "hit" are examples of direct impact. However, in some cases, the impact is transmitted indirectly. There are things that come off.
For example. . . The impact of the ball hitting the swing during golf, baseball, tennis, etc. is transmitted to the watch through the arm.
