HISTORY Tiffany Chronology

1837	Opened the first Tiffany store in New York.
1848	Charles Lewis Tiffany became famous for his diamonds procured in Europe.
1862	President Lincoln buys Tiffany's necklace and earrings for his wife.
1878	Acquired one of the world's best gemstones, the Fancy Yellow Diamond, commonly known as the Tiffany Diamond.
1886	Announced Tiffany settings.
1903	Discovered Kunzite and named after Tiffany's gem expert Dr. Kunz.
1940	Opened Tiffany main store on Fifth Avenue in New York.
1961	It will be the setting for "Breakfast at Tiffany's" starring Audrey Hepburn.
1969	Released Return to Tiffany Key Ring.
1974	Elsa Peretti becomes Tiffany's designer.
1980	The Paloma Graffiti Collection is born, inspired by Picasso's work.
2001	Tiffany Blue is registered.
2014	The T collection is born.
