In 1860 Louis Louis Chopard established a manufacturing workshop in Sonvilliers, Switzerland, specializing in pocket watches and chronometers. Producing watches with innovative designs along with art works quickly gained a reputation abroad and gained prominent customers, including the Russian emperor Nikolai II. The first "Happy Diamond" watch was born in 1976. The free moving and swaying moving diamonds between crystal sapphires instantly grabbed users who wanted to assert themselves a little differently. This unique, patented design has been handed down as DNA for many years. Today, Chopard is a family-run company and is co-presidented by two brothers of the Scheufele family.
